Discover the beauty of the Commandaria region in Cyprus. There’s no better way to explore this stunning area than from the saddle of a motorcycle, feeling the sea breeze, and connecting with the nature, sights, and scents around you.
We’ll wander through picturesque, character-filled streets and enjoy local wines and homemade cuisine. Our journey begins in the port city of Limassol, right by the marina. We’ll start the ride along the coastline towards the villages of the Larnaca district, soaking in the breathtaking rural views. We’ll pass by the island’s largest reservoir, built in the 1980s.
Along the way, we’ll stop at scenic viewpoints and taste the region’s traditional dishes. We’ll visit wineries where we’ll have the chance to sample the world-famous Commandaria wine, the oldest wine still in production. We’ll also explore beautiful vineyards and learn about the winemaking process.
Our tour will also take you to a local honey farm, where we can taste different types of honey, including honey liqueur, Learn about the art of traditional beekeeping and the honey-making process. We’ll visit a traditional carob factory, learn about the carob, once known as Cyprus’s ‘Black Gold” and taste traditional carob sweets.
Day 1: Limassol to Odou
We’ll depart from Limassol, passing by ancient dams and monasteries, then climb up to Odou, a small picturesque village, often referred to as “Bee Village,” and renowned for its honey production and beekeeping traditions.
We’ll ascend a stunning mountain road toward the historic Holy Machairas Monastery, a spiritual landmark nestled high in the Troodos Mountains.
From there, we explore hidden spots and scenic backroads, passing through almond orchards and traditional rural landscapes. The journey ends with a breathtaking descent along panoramic mountain roads, leading us to the beautiful Germasogeia Dam, where nature and tranquility meet.
Day 2: Limassol to Omodos
We’ll embark on a scenic route through the stunning Commandaria region, passing lakes, dams, vineyards, and a wind farm, with a visit to a modern, impressive winery that overlooks the village of Omodos.
Next, we’ll explore the charming village of Omodos, enjoying traditional Cypriot cuisine at local tavernas. Omodos is a picturesque and ancient village founded during the Byzantine Empire. The village is paved with stone and surrounded by towering mountain peaks, famous for its vineyards, high-quality wines, and the renowned “Arktina” bread of Omodos, celebrated throughout Cyprus.
The women of the village are skilled in the art of embroidery, a tradition passed down through generations. For centuries, they’ve crafted delicate decorative items such as tablecloths, blankets, and lacework.
Day 3: Limassol to Lofou
We’ll depart from Limassol towards the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains, passing by the impressive Kouris Dam, the island’s largest water reservoir. After a morning view of the dam, we’ll visit the ruins of Alassa, a village submerged due to flooding, with only its old church remaining. When the water level is high, the bell tower rises above the lake, creating a mysterious sight.
Next, we’ll climb to a small village 850 meters above sea level, offering picturesque alleys, traditional stone houses, and colorful flowers. We’ll visit an old olive press, art galleries, and a sweet shop offering local sweets and homemade jams made from Troodos mountain fruits.
We’ll then head to a nearby winery to sample wines, cheeses, and traditional treats. Our journey continues to Lofou, one of the most beautiful villages in Cyprus, where we’ll enjoy a walking tour through narrow streets, scenic views, and local tavernas serving traditional dishes like Kleftiko and Moussaka.
Finally, we’ll return through the charming Commandaria region, passing villages and vineyards, and end our tour back in Limassol, celebrating the conclusion of this unforgettable experience.
