Description

Motorcycle tours through the Peloponnese, from Athens to Sparta, exploring the sites where ancient Greece was born.

Discover the southern part of Greece from the saddle of a motorcycle, riding along winding roads that climb through majestic mountains with breathtaking views. Together, we’ll uncover hidden gems not found on the typical tourist map.

The Peloponnese, an ancient land, is the birthplace of the foundations of ancient Greek culture—the cradle of Western civilization. Here, in the Laconia Valley, the mighty Spartan armies trained and marched. In Olympia, the Olympic Games began. Byzantine cities with art treasures, Venetian castles, and coastal stations stand as reminders of their 500-year rule over the eastern Mediterranean. In the early 19th century, this was even the first capital of independent Greece.

We’ll ride through picturesque stone villages, agricultural fields, and forests, as we journey through this powerful and impressive landscape. Starting from Athens, we’ll cross the Corinth Canal and head into the southern part of Greece, the Peloponnese Peninsula, an area the size of Israel.

This mountainous region, with its highest peak, “Mount Prophet Elias” (2,405m), offers a unique blend of ancient and modern Greek culture, stunning beaches, towering mountain ranges, winding scenic roads, charming villages, lively tavernas, Mediterranean landscapes, and amazing people.

Itinerary
Day 1: Athens to Loutraki

On the first day of the tour, we’ll depart from Athens and ride towards Loutraki, a charming coastal town in the Peloponnese. The journey will take us through scenic countryside roads, passing olive groves, rolling hills, and offering breathtaking views of the Corinthian Gulf. Our first stop will be at the Corinth Canal, a fascinating engineering marvel that connects the Aegean and Ionian Seas. After continuing our ride, we’ll arrive at the Loutraki Casino Hotel, where you’ll enjoy a fantastic dinner while taking in the beautiful surroundings. The evening will be yours to relax and explore the hotel’s facilities or simply unwind by the sea.

We will start our morning ride heading west towards the southernmost point of the Peloponnese, and the second southernmost point of Europe, the Mani region. This secluded area in the southern Peloponnese offers wild, dramatic landscapes. From the stunning beach of the small island of Elafonisos, we’ll continue through Gythio and Areopoli, with a visit to the impressive Diros Caves.

The ride along the Areopoli-Kardamili road, one of the most beautiful roads in Greece, will take us through unique villages made of gray stone towers. These ancient structures were originally built for defense against attackers and invaders from the sea. After exploring the caves, we’ll finish the day in Kalamata, where we’ll rest and enjoy the charm of this beautiful coastal city.

On this leg of the journey, we will depart from Kalamata and head southeast towards Monemvasia, a picturesque medieval town often referred to as the “Gibraltar of the East.” The ride will take us through scenic routes, with winding roads and beautiful coastal views. As we approach Monemvasia, the striking sight of the ancient castle city rising from the sea will come into view. Once we arrive, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the charming streets of this historic town, which is perched on a rocky island connected to the mainland by a causeway. The evening will be spent discovering the town’s Byzantine architecture, narrow alleys, and breathtaking views, and we’ll enjoy a lovely dinner at one of its traditional tavernas.

As we depart from the medieval charm of Monemvasia, we head north toward Nafplio, one of Greece’s most picturesque towns. The ride will take us through the rolling hills and coastal roads of the Peloponnese, offering stunning views of the Aegean Sea and lush landscapes. As we approach Nafplio, we’ll be greeted by its impressive fortresses, including the Palamidi Castle, which towers over the town. Upon arrival, we’ll have time to explore Nafplio’s charming old town, with its Venetian architecture, narrow alleys, and lively squares. Enjoy the beauty of this historic town before settling in for a relaxing dinner, soaking in the atmosphere of this romantic coastal gem.

We’ll begin our journey by riding through scenic mountain roads, with breathtaking views of the Peloponnese landscape. As we make our way back to Athens, we’ll pass through charming villages and serene countryside, soaking in the natural beauty of this part of Greece. Along the way, we’ll stop at a few picturesque spots to stretch our legs and enjoy the views.

Upon arriving in Athens, we’ll return the motorcycles to the agency, concluding this unforgettable ride through one of Greece’s most historic and scenic regions.
